Timber seized: Smuggler released after paying fine
Police stopped a Datsun pickup near Jam village, they recovered 100 sqr ft timber of fine quality.

The Haripur police claimed to have foiled an attempt to smuggle timber worth hundreds of thousands to Punjab here on Tuesday. Police said that on a tip-off, upon stopping a Datsun pickup (AJK-2766) near Jam village, they recovered 100 sqr ft timber of fine quality. They also arrested Rashid of Lassan Nawab village who confessed of smuggling the timber to Punjab, where the rates are relatively higher. However, the police later released the arrested man and let him take the seized wood after paying a fine of Rs122,000.
