Security: Finance Dept releases Rs4m for repair work on car

Government had deployed a bullet proof Mercedes Benz, reserved for VVIPs, to the LHC CJ

The Punjab government has released Rs4.053 million for the repair and maintenance of a bullet proof car used by the chief justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC).


The Finance Department has agreed to an advance payment to Shahnawaz Motors for the vehicle.

The government had deployed a bullet proof Mercedes Benz, reserved for VVIPs, to the LHC CJ during the term of Justice (retd) Khawaja Muhammad Sharif. The car has been out of order for five months.

The Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) wrote a letter on July 2 to the Finance Department for the provision of Rs4.053 million for the repair work. On July 4, the Finance Department accorded approval of funds and the funds have been placed at the disposal of the S&GAD for advance payment to the workshop. An official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said it would take about a month to make the car operational.
