Afghan border: Death toll from landmine blasts rises to 18
Truck carrying 25 people was on its way to rescue the people when it also hit a land mine.

The death toll rose to 18 from Sunday’s roadside bombs in southern Afghanistan, said an official. Women and children were among the dead.
According to Qila Abdullah Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bahsiher Bangulzai, a private car was on its way from the border town of Chaman to Spin Boldak, Afghanistan, when it hit a land mine in Shena Rai area.
A truck carrying 25 people was on its way to rescue the people when it also hit a land mine. “The land mines were planted on a road and 18 people lost their lives while seven others sustained injures,” the DC said. According to Assistant Commissioner Habibullah Musa Khel the seven injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Chaman — the nearest hospital in Pakistan for treatment.
None of the deceased could be identified till the filing of this report. So far, no group has claimed responsibility of the attack.
