Official trip: Foreign delegation visits HEC
Representatives from the governments of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan visited the HEC to ascertain higher education system

A delegation of representatives from the governments of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan visited the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to ascertain Pakistan’s higher education system. HEC Executive Director Dr Sohail Naqvi apprised them about the commission’s role in strengthening higher education in Pakistan and explained the various steps undertaken to improve quality of teaching and research in the country. The delegation also visited Quaid-i-Azam University and the National University of Science and Technology. Members of the delegation included Sabyrbek Sardarbekov, the deputy governor of Naryn Oblast in Kyrgyzstan and Farkhod Rakhimov, First Deputy Minister Ministry of Education in Tajikistan. Former federal minister for science and technology Shamsh Kassim Lakha and Asian Development Bank Senior Economist Asadullah Sumbal, along with senior officials of the University of Central Asia also accompanied the delegation.
