Work and pleasure: KMC administrator in London to discuss solid waste management

To meet European counterparts; hands over powers to municipal commissioner.

KARACHI:
Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed left for London on Sunday on a five-day official tour, leaving behind confused juniors with the difficult task to clean storm water drains just ahead of the monsoon season.

During his visit to London, Syed will meet his European counterparts and will discuss issues relating to the management of solid waste. He is in the delegation of senior government officials led by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad to London.

Karachi Commissioner Roshan Ali Shaikh and Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) Managing Director Misbahuddin Farid are also part of the delegation.

This is Syed’s third foreign trip. In May 2012, he had gone to Dubai to attend an international investment conference and then to Istanbul a month later.

KMC’s media management director, Ali Sajid, said that Syed’s absence will not affect any on going projects. “In any case, he has handed over the charge to municipal commissioner Matanat Ali Khan.”
