Extortionists attack trader's house in Karachi
Trader said he was attacked because he refused to pay 'bhatta' of Rs30 million to extortionists.

A trader was attacked in Karachi on Sunday, when a grenade was hurled at his residence in Clifton’s Darakshan area, Express News reported. According to the trader, he was attacked because he had refused to pay ‘bhatta’ (extortion money) of Rs30 million.
According to the police, a grenade was hurled at the residence of local trader Abdul Qadir Memon in Darakshan, which failed to detonate because the assailants had not pulled the grenade's pin properly.
Talking to Express News, Memon said that extortionists were calling him, threatening him to pay them Rs30 million, adding that on Sunday too he received a call demanding he immediately pay Rs10 million.
The attack has left the trader and his family fearful for their lives.
Traders in Karachi have constantly been under attack recently, with the 'bhatta' mafia threatening the former to pay up exorbitant amounts of money or get killed.
