Roadside blast kills policeman in Peshawar
Police vehicle was on a routine patrol when it came under a remote-controlled bomb attack.

A police constable was killed and three others were seriously wounded when a remote-controlled roadside bomb targeted a police vehicle on the Ring Road on Saturday within the jurisdiction of Pishtakhara Police Station.
SHO Yasin Khan told The Express Tribune that their vehicle was on a routine patrol along the main Ring Road when it came under a remote-controlled bomb attack.
“Our four policemen, including Sub-Inspector Malook Khan, Constable Sameen, driver Salah and Constable Haider Bacha, were seriously injured in the bomb attack and Sameen later succumbed to his injuries at the Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC),” the SHO said, adding that their official vehicle had also been destroyed in the attack.
A large number of police reached the area and cordoned it off by diverting the traffic to another road.
Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) also reached the area and inspected the site.
BDS official Abdul Haq told The Express Tribune that only 500 grams of high explosives had been used in the attack and the device was planted by the roadside.
“It was a small half kg device which had been put inside a pressure cooker and planted at one side of the road,” he explained.
The blast created widespread panic among the local people as the explosion took place at an area where SP Rural Kalam Khan’s vehicle was successfully targeted killing him on the spot a few months ago. A police mobile had also been targeted here last year.
