Who’s Got The Moves Like Jagger
Be it mehendis, parties or just freestyle dancing with friends, these celebs sure know how to shake it.
LAHORE:
We compiled a list of dancing queens and kings who caught The Express Tribune’s eye because they’ve got the right moves. Be it mehendis, parties or just freestyle dancing with friends, these celebs sure know how to shake it.
Kamiar Rokni
Designer
Whether it’s an after-launch party or mehendi, Rokni is known to set the dance floor on fire. “My most memorable moment was dancing with Sanam Taseer at her brother’s mehendi to “Billo De Ghar” by Abrarul Haq,” he chuckles. “You have to feel the music to dance!” Rokhni shares a funny anecdote: “I once toppled someone over while dancing and they broke their nose.” Now, that’s what we call vigorous dancing! Rokhni’s close friend Sanam Taseer says, “Life is too short to dance with anyone but Kami.”
Sumayrah
Radio jockey at Radio 1
RJ Sumayrah is also known to move well to some fast paced bhangra beats on the floor. “I recently danced to ‘Pyaar Ki Pungi’, ‘Moorni’ and ‘Disco Dancer’,” she said. “But my favourite moment was when we did bhangra at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Arnold Schwarzenegger was also present.”
Aisamul Haq
Tennis player/hearthrob
Did you know that our tennis star Aisamul Haq is a smashing hit when it comes to dancing? At a wedding that took place last month, Aisam got the crowd cheering for him when he danced to LMFAO’s “I am sexy and I know It”. His funny rendition of hip hop moves combined with push-ups definitely adds to Aisam’s sex appeal. Forget tennis, he’s a sure winner on the dance floor.
Mahira Khan
Actor
If you thought her striking looks and charm were her only virtues, you’ve got another surprise coming. Mahira Khan loves to dance and can shake it like no one’s watching. “I can’t even remember the last song I danced to because it’s been ages! But Feeha and I have been dancing since we were kids,”says Khan, adding that any new Bollywood song would have them practicing dance moves. “The most fun I’ve had dancing is with Feeha,” she adds. “If she is around, then I’ll have fun. Not everyone is in sync with you, but Feeha and I can coordinate.” While Khan loves freestyle dancing, she admits that she is bad at coordinated mehendi dances because she “gets excited and joins the crowd.” She said that whenever she hears a Michael Jackson song, she feels like the dance floor is calling out to her.
Hassan Shehryar Yasir
Designer
HSY is a close second to Kami’s moves. His friend model Mehreen Syed, says, “I love it when HSY dances. He is so much fun to watch,” adding that “recently at Sara Rehman’s wedding, he danced fabulously. His dance with Munezee Khalid was one of my favourites.”
Kiran Chaudhry
Singer
Chaudhry has serenaded us with her melodious tunes, but she is another who lets the rhythm take control when she’s on the dance floor. Her mother, Shaheen Arshad, talks to us about how Chaudhry did a solo on Bollywood film Chandni’s “Meray Haathon Mein Nau Nau Chooriyan Hain” at a family friend’s dholki, “I am a mother and I obviously notice her the most but I can never forget when she was much younger and danced at one of our family friend’s wedding.”
Feeha Jamshed
Designer
Jamshed talks about childhood memories of dancing with her best friend, actor Mahira Khan. “We love dancing! When we were kids, we would organise fake dholkis at a friend’s house and make up dance routines,” she said. “We would pretend like our cousins were getting married.” She also shares that whenever Bally Sagoo’s “Ajja Nach Le” by or Madonna’s “Like A Prayer” plays, “I have to be on the floor!”
