Munter hopes Nato supplies continue uninterrupted

Munter visits Gadani, assures of US support to Government of Balochistan.

US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter on Saturday said that the resumption of NATO supply lines was a positive step of the Government of Pakistan and it should continue uninterrupted.

He was talking to media persons during his farewell visit to Gadani area of Balochistan. Dr Marilyn Wyatt, wife of the US envoy, Karachi-based Consul General William Martin and Advisor to PM Sindh Waqqas Malik accompanied the US Ambassador.

"We are well cognisant of the issues facing the people of Balochistan," he said, adding that the United States (US) fully supported the Government of Balochistan to overcome the problems it faced in numerous sectors.


The Ambassador also noted that the Gadani ship-breaking Industry is of an international standard and assured all-out support of the US government in terms of provision of the latest machinery and sharing expertise.

"We will also assist the provincial government in establishing the schools and health centres in Gadani to facilitate the local people," he added.

During the visit, the Ambassador met with fishermen at a jetty in Gadani. He also he visited the ship-breaking yards where he was briefed on the industry. The Ambassador also spoke to the labourers.
