Punjab police suspends 250 ‘pot-bellied’ officials from operational duty
Those who were able to reduce waists by 2-4 inches will be given another chance.
LAHORE:
The Punjab police force has suspended around 250 officials on failure to reduce their weight, Express News reported on Saturday.
Inspector General (IG) Punjab Habibur Rehman had ordered 175,000 personnel not to allow their waistlines to exceed 38 inches and reduce their weight by July 7. As the deadline passed, those unable to reduce their waists were suspended from their operational duties.
Officials who were able to reduce their waists by 2-4 inches were, however, given an extension in the deadline.
Police sources say new young officials may be recruited to cover up for those suspended.
Teams under the supervision of district police officers were set up across Punjab to measure police officers’ waists.
