Balochistan unrest: Jam Yousuf behind missing youth, army operation, says Talal Bugti

Talal Bugti to discuss electoral alliance with Nawaz Sharif soon.

QUETTA:

Chief of the Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) Talal Akbar Bugti claimed that former Balochistan chief minister Jam Yousuf was not only nominated in Nawab Akbar Bugti’s murder case but was also responsible for enforced disappearances of thousands of Baloch youth as well as the alleged military operation in Balochistan.

“The Baloch nation will never forgive Jam Yousuf,” he said, while addressing a press conference at the Bugti House here on Friday.

Talal further said that Yousuf and former Balochistan home minister Shoaib Nosharwani were strong supporters of the policies of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf in Balochistan; therefore, he added, the Baloch people will not forgive them until and unless they are punished.

He claimed that Yousuf had hired lawyers from Karachi in his case because lawyers in Balochistan refused to appear before the court as his counsel. “I appreciate the lawyers’ community of Balochistan,” he added. Responding to a question, Talal said that he would visit Lahore soon on the invitation of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief to discuss an electoral alliance with him.

The JWP leader said he would soon approach the Supreme Court over the lack of progress in Nawab Bugti’s murder case.

He expressed his solidarity with the Supreme Court, saying that tabling any new bill about protecting dual national MPs was tantamount to making the judiciary a toy.
