Inflation: Index down 0.16% during week

SPI for the week ended July 5 has registered a decrease of 0.16% over the previous week for the lowest income group.

ISLAMABAD:
The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the week ended July 5 has registered a decrease of 0.16% over the previous week for the lowest income group. The SPI for the week under review for the above mentioned group was recorded at 177.73 points against 178.02 points registered in the previous week, according provisional figures from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. The SPI for combined groups was decreased by 2.73%; down from 188.75 points in the previous week to 183.60 points this week. Compared to the corresponding week last year, the SPI for combined groups is inflated 7.22%. During the week under review, average prices of indexed items changed as follows: 14 items registered a decrease, 21 items increased and the remaining 18 items’ prices remained unchanged.
