Solar homes: Balochistan to spend Rs888m
Nature has endowed the province with immense potential in generating solar, wind and geo-thermal energy.

The Balochistan government will spend Rs888 million on the Solar Energy Home Project under which around 300 villages will get access to electricity. Sources in the Balochistan Planning and Development department have told APP that nature has endowed the province with immense potential in generating solar, wind and geo-thermal energy. In this regard, the provincial government has already set up the Balochistan Energy Company for promotion of renewable energy in the province. The company has also been registered by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan. With exorbitant increases in the power tariff, the provincial government plans to convert all such tubewells to run on solar-energy at a cost of Rs5 billion.
