KARACHI:

The family of a woman who was allegedly murdered by her husband has appealed for justice by going public at the Karachi Press Club.

The victim, Salma, died in 2010 but after 11 months it was revealed that she was poisoned allegedly by her husband, Asif. Salma’s sister Najma Javed said that her brother-in-law and their children were trying to threaten them. “It has made our lives uncomfortable. We are totally broken and no one helps the poor,” she said.

The family claims that Salma was poisoned when she found out her husband was involved in crime.

Salma’s mother Aneesa Begum and Najma Javed said that neither the Model Town police nor the judges of the city court had given them justice or protection for the last two years.

Najma says she lost her job as a health worker while pursuing her sister’s case. Her father was also arrested two months ago in an alleged robbery case. The women said that they couldn’t afford a lawyer. “We go through mental trauma every month when there is a hearing date.”
