As many as eight Ramazan Bazaars and 34 fair price shops will start operations in Bahawalpur from July 14, DCO Dr Naeem Rauf said on Thursday.
He was speaking at a meeting to review arrangements for these facilities on Thursday. Assistant commissioners, District Officer (Enterprises) Parvaiz Fahim Bukhari and Traders Association president Syed Israr Shah were also present on the occasion.
The DCO directed the officials to ensure that prices of the products were displayed prominently at stalls. DO (Labour) was directed to regularly inspect the bazaars to check the weights used by the vendors. The DCO asked the executive district officer (agriculture) to ensure the quality of vegetables and fruits and price control magistrates to check for violation of prices of various items notified by the government
25 Ramazan Bazaars in Faisalabad
In Faisalabad, the district administration has approved the establishment of 25 Ramazan Bazaars. These bazaars will start operations from July 17.
District Coordination Officer Naseem Sadiq finalised the arrangements at a meeting on Wednesday.
Assistant commissioners (ACs) and the town municipal officers (TMOs) were directed to ensure that fruits and vegetables were of good quality. They were also asked to approach flour and sugar mills, and fruits, vegetables and oil businesses in that regard.
The DCO asked the officers of the market committee to also finalise arrangements for fair price shops.
He said arrangements should also be made for medical camps and complaint centres at the bazaars. Separate counters will be set up at these bazaars for senior citizens and people with disabilities.
