Nato Transit Routes: DPC announces long march on July 8
Committee formed to approach political, religious groups for support for long march, says DPC chairman Samiul Haq.
RAWALPINDI:
Difa-e-Pakistan Council, or DPC, announced that its component parties would stage a long march on July 8 against the federal government to protest the reopening of the Nato transit routes.
“A committee has been formed to approach other political and religious groups for support for the long march which will start from Lahore,” DPC Chairman Maulana Samiul Haq told a news conference on Wednesday.
Attendees at the news conference included all major DPC leaders, including Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Hameed Gul, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and Liaqat Baloch.
“One woman phoned another woman and said ‘sorry’. If Pakistan and the US have cut any deal on reopening Nato transit routes it should be made public,” said Maulana Samiul Haq referring to Tuesday’s telephone call between US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar.
