Breakdown: Technical error disrupts Dawn’s printing

It was decided to perform maintenance work on the old printer and buy new ones if needed.

ISLAMABAD:

The residents of twin cities and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa could not get their copies of Dawn newspaper on Tuesday due to a late-night technical error at the printing press.

A senior official at the Islamabad section of Dawn confirmed that the paper could not be printed, adding that such an error had taken place for the first time in the paper’s history. The administration managed to bring the paper in the market by noon, but the rolled out copies were not in coloured form, said hawkers.

However, the Tuesday’s copy was circulated along with Wednesday’s edition. To avoid such an incident in future, the managers held a meeting with the resident editor on Tuesday, during which it was decided to perform maintenance work on the old printer and buy new ones if needed.

Dawn’s editor has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to readers. The error has been resolved and the printing press is up and running, he said.
