A woman was killed and her husband injured in Balochni area on Wednesday. Police said Umar Hayat Masih, a resident of Chak 56-RB, had had a rivalry with some men in his village. On Wednesday, they said, the men attacked his house and beat the couple with sticks. His wife, Naseem Bibi, died from a blow to the head, while Masih was severely injured. Some neighbours took him to a hospital, after the assailants fled. Doctors treating him said that he would likely survive. Police said Masih’s statement has been recorded and an FIR was registered. No arrests have been made so far.
