Child protection: Four-day training begins

Director general said that apart from several challenges, a programme had been adopted for the protection of children

“Protection of children is the Punjab government’s first priority,” Social Welfare Director General Muhammad Aslam said on Wednesday.


He was addressing the inaugural session of a four-day training workshop jointly organised by the Social Welfare Department and Baitul Mal and the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF).

The director general said that apart from several challenges, a programme had been adopted for the protection of children. In child protection officers from various organizations and representatives from the Police Department, the Health Department, the Social Welfare Department and prisons will be given practical training on children protection management during the workshop. UNICEF’s Christopher Robertson and other international consultants will give lectures.

Programme Director Abdul Qudus, Bahawalpur district Child Protection Officer Muhammad Haroon and other government department officials were also present at the inaugural session.
