Building strategy: LCCI calls meeting of all chambers on July 10

10% to 15% of industry is on the verge of closure if central government fails to take immediate remedial measures.

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has called a meeting of all chambers of commerce of Punjab on July 10 in an effort to draw up a joint strategy to address the problems faced by the business community.



“We have decided to convene a meeting of all chambers of commerce of Punjab following the directives of the chief minister, who will also send all provincial secretaries to the meeting,” announced LCCI President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh in a statement on Wednesday.

He said secretaries of labour, environment and home affairs would give their input in the deliberations as the business community in a meeting with the chief minister had raised a number of issues related to these departments.

The labour and environment departments have issued notices to the business community, which, Sheikh said, were creating hurdles in the way of businesses Sheikh warned that another 10% to 15% of the industry was on the verge of closure if the central government failed to take immediate remedial measures.
