Contempt of court: Malik Riaz tenders unconditional apology to SC

He also submitted a plea in the court seeking that Dr Arsalan Iftikhar be summoned to the court.

ISLAMABAD:
Business tycoon Malik Riaz tendered an unconditional apology during a contempt of court case hearing against him in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, reported Express News.

Riaz said that he apologises if his press conference had given the court an impression that he was targeting Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and his family.

He also submitted a plea in the court seeking that Dr Arsalan Iftikhar be summoned to the court.

Earlier, with a pocket-sized copy of the Holy Quran in his hand, an emotionally-charged Riaz had hurled serious, but contradictory charges against Justice Chaudhry and his son on an issue that is sub judice, and in defiance of an apex court order to speak to the media.

He had claimed that in some of the meetings he had with the chief justice, the incumbent registrar of the Supreme Court and Dr Iftikhar, the chief justice’s son, were also present.
