Kidnapping for ransom: ATC charges six suspects for abduction

The ATA’s formal charge states that the men reportedly kidnapped a man from Gulshan-e-Hadeed on January 3.

The Anti-Terrorism Court-I has charged six men in connection with a kidnapping case.


The men, Atta Mohammad, Ali Asghar, Ghulam Abbas, Ghulam Kamber, Mohammad Nawaz and Abdul Qayyum, were charged under section 7-A of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997 along with sections 365-A and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with kidnapping and common intent. The ATA’s formal charge states that the men reportedly kidnapped a man from Gulshan-e-Hadeed on January 3.

The First Information Report (3/2012) was subsequently filed at the Steel Town police station. According to the complainant in the case, the kidnappers allegedly demanded Rs700,000 as ransom but the amount was bargained at Rs400,000. The victim was released after the money was paid. The court will next hear the case on July 21.
