Robbery: Trader shot, killed

A trader was shot and killed in a robbery in Rail Bazaar area on Tuesday.
The FIR registered with the Batala Colony police stated that cloth merchant Haji Ameen, a resident of Batala Colony C-297, was shot on resisting a robbery attempt at his godown at Jhang Bazaar Street No3.
It said two unidentified robbers took away Rs20,000 from the godown.
Ameen’s three sons, who were present at the scene during the robbery, took him to Faisalabad divisional headquarters hospital where he passed away.
Following his death, Ameen’s relatives and shopkeepers of Jhang Bazaar demonstrated in front of the hospital and chanted slogans against the police accusing them of supporting robbers in the area.
They said traders were being robbed of their belongings in broad daylight and the police had failed to provide protection to their businesses. The protesters demanded immediate arrest of the robbers.
The demonstration ended as senior police officers arrived at the scene and assured the protesters of prompt action in the matter.
