Faisal Raza Abidi resigns as PPP Karachi president
Party sources claim he was removed after local leadership complained he was inattentive, not giving time to party.
KARACHI:
Senator Faisal Raza Abidi has resigned from the post of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) president Karachi division, but party sources claim that he has been removed due to complaints received from local leadership of the party.
Abdul Qadir Patel has been given Abidi's post.
Abidi was made president of the Karachi division in November last year.
PPP Karachi division spokesperson, Kausar Amir said that Abidi had resigned because of health reasons and had also been admitted to the hospital. Sources within the party have said that the local leadership had made many complaints against him for being “inattentive” and had not been giving time to the party and its workers.
Abidi had earlier contested from NA-253 against Haider Abbas Rizvi of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) during the 2008 elections.
He had been selected as the president of PPP’s Karachi division after the elections but was removed after a year after complaints were received. The PPP leader has been a part of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) since 2008 and member of Senate since 2009.
