Ombudsman’s conduct: Family alleges official usurped their land

HYDERABAD: Balochistan ombudsman Akbar Ali Baloch was accused by a relative for issuing death threats to him and his family over a property dispute on Sunday. Mushtaq Ali Jagirani said that three of his stepbrothers, Akbar Ali Baloch, Ahmed Ali Jagirani and Hassan Ali Jagirani, and his nephew Rafique Jagirani had seized control over his family’s land. The family owns agricultural land and residential properties worth nearly Rs150 million in Larkana, Jacobabad, Hyderabad and Karachi. Mushtaq claimed that his family was forced to leave Larkana and settle in Karachi after his stepbrothers had evicted him from his home. He appealed to Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to take notice of the ombudsman’s contact. Akbar Ali Baloch could not be reached for comment.
