Accountability: Murderers sentenced
Police said he had had a dispute with Sharifan Bibi.

A man was sentenced to death and two others were awarded life imprisonment on Thursday. Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Faheem awarded capital punishment to a man found guilty of killing a woman in Sahianwala. Police said Hamid Mukhtar had broken into Sharifan Bibi’s home in Chak 114-JB in May and shot her and a guest, Rubina Bibi. While Sharifan Bibi survived, the latter died.
Police said he had had a dispute with Sharifan Bibi. The court also told him to pay Rs300,000 as compensation to the heirs of the deceased. Also on Thursday, Judge Suleiman Baig awarded life imprisonment to two men found guilty of a murder in Lundianwala. The prosecution said neighbours Muhammad Arshad and Fazil had had an argument after which Fazil, along with his accomplices shot Arshad at his home. Fazil and Saleem were imprisoned for life. They were ordered to pay Rs50,000 each to the heirs of the deceased. Saijd has been declared a proclaimed offender.
