YouTube video of the day: A woman's journey into martial arts

Video tells the story of Suhaila Muhammadi, a karate champion from Balochistan.

Contradictory to being perceived as incapable of taking a plunge and doing something different due to the fragility of her nature, a woman can actually put her critics to shame. Specially when she has 34 shining gold medals hanging around her neck.

A video by BlackBox productions tells the story of Suhaila Muhammadi, who hails from Balochistan where the environment for women is not conducive, being a conservative society. But Muhammadi wanted to bring about a change – a change that would prove that “girls can do anything,” as she says in the video.

Clasping her fingers into a fist, Muhammadi kicks in the air while firmly balancing herself on the other leg – every move embodies her determination. She is now the top medalist among 300 students at her karate club – 250 of which are boys.

The video shows her trainer Ghulam Ali Hazara narrating how she developed the passion for martial arts. “She was about nine years old, when she used to watch our training sessions through the windows.”

Muhammadi, who has participated in many tournaments including the SAF games, humbly discloses that watching martial arts movies became her inspiration.

Video rating: Thumbs up for the determination and never-give-up attitude.
