Ephedrine case: LHC grants pre-arrest bail to Shahabuddin
LHC's Rawalpindi bench orders Shahabuddin to submit guarantee bond of Rs100,000.
RAWALPINDI:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) granted pre-arrest bail to Textile Minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin on Thursday in the case concerning the illegal allotment of ephedrine quota while he was health minister.
A two-member bench of LHC’s Rawalpindi division ordered Shahabuddin to submit a guarantee bond of Rs100,000 and instructed the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) to submit all records by July 3.
The court also ordered Shahabuddin to appear personally before the bench on July 3.
Shahabuddin had termed the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) proceedings against him mala fide and said that the investigators involved him in the case to obstruct his bid for premiership.
He said he had nothing to do with the allocation of the import quota or its quantity, which is the domain of the health ministry’s director general.
