Achieved what I wanted during my premiership, says Gilani
Says he had accepted SC's decision to disqualify him, but parliament had not.
LAHORE:
Former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said on Thursday that he had achieved whatever he had wanted during his premiership and that he had accepted the Supreme Court’s decision to disqualify him, Express News reported.
Speaking to the media at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, Gilani said that prime ministers keep coming and going, but the assembly should complete its tenure.
He said the Parliament had not accepted the Supreme Court’s decision.
The former prime minister said that he had wished to be treated well during his farewell and that is exactly what had happened.
Gilani also said that the end of one’s premiership should be peaceful, transparent and independent, so that the people can select the succeeding prime minister in a better way.
He added that he wishes that the supremacy of the Parliament remains intact.
