Incoming CEO brings 30 years of banking experience.

Habib Bank Limited (HBL) has appointed Nauman Dar as the new president and CEO who will take over from the retiring president and CEO Zakir Mahmood in September 2012, according to the statement issued by the bank.
Dar has been a career banker and brings with him a wealth of 30 years of banking experience in Pakistan as well as Africa and Europe. He is currently the Head of HBL’s International, Corporate and Investment Banking. Dar’s experience and well recognised qualities will facilitate the growth of HBL in years to come. His appointment is subject to applicable regulatory approvals.
The departing president and CEO Mahmood served the institution for over 12 years. His contributions in the development of the Bank’s franchise in Pakistan as well as in the international markets were recognised by the Board of Directors as an invaluable asset.
HBL Chairman Sultan Ali Allana applauded Mahmood’s leadership and exemplary dedication in the evolution and repositioning of the bank since 2000, which has resulted in HBL becoming the leading bank of Pakistan, in terms of its deposits and outreach to all sectors of the economy. With over 1,450 branches and presence in 25 countries around the world, during Mahmood’s tenure, HBL’s balance sheet has witnessed an unprecedented growth and the bank continued to expand its footprint in the rural and urban populations of the country.
