Energy crisis: National grid expands by 400MW
Target of generating 15,000 MW by increasing fuel supply, providing uninterrupted gas supply, focusing on hydropower.
ISLAMABAD:
Four power plants on Monday started contributing 400 megawatts (MW) of electricity to the national grid, which would ease power shortfall load-shedding during the week.
The power plants, which have started power generation, included Halmore Power Generation Company Limited (Bhikki, district Sheikhupura), Saif Power Ltd (Sahiwal), Sapphire Electric Company Limited (Sheikhupura) and Orient Power Company (Pvt) Limited (Balloki, district Kasur), said a statement from the prime minister house.
The development is in pursuance of the decision taken by the Prime Minister Pervaiz Ashraf to overcome the energy crisis in the country. The meeting had set the target of generating 15,000 MW by increasing fuel supply, putting power plants in operation by providing uninterrupted gas supply, and focusing on hydropower generation.
