Orient labs: Director’s lawyer completes bail arguments
Collapse of the Orient Labs factory in Kharak in February in which 26 workers were killed.
LAHORE:
Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Tariq Mehmood Zargham on Monday adjourned the bail plea of Zubair Iqbal, director of Orient Labs, till June 26 after his lawyer completed his arguments.
Iqbal and his two brothers are accused of various offences with regards to the collapse of the Orient Labs factory in Kharak in February in which 26 workers were killed, including murder and attempted murder. On Monday, Iqbal’s lawyer argued that his client should not be charged with murder or attempted murder as the factory collapse was quite clearly an accident. He said that his client had also been accused of negligence. He asked why, if negligence had led to the factory’s collapse, Iqbal had been accused of murder. He said the other charges against his client were of a bailable nature. Further arguments on the bail plea are to continue today.
