Pakistan lost their first match against hosts Saudi Arabia 1-0 and need to win against Sri Lanka today in order to have a chance of qualifying to the second round of the AFC U22 Championship qualifiers.
Assistant coach Nasir Ismail said the team needed drastic improvement to avoid an embarrassing exit. “It’s a do or die situation,” Ismail told The Express Tribune. “The other four teams are doing well and the competition is tough.”
He added that the team displayed a good show against Saudi Arabia, ranked 92 in the world. “Our preparation is good. But we need to improve in certain areas to stay in contention.”
