Harassment Case: SHOs put on notice for July 10

Sadia’s brother lodged an FIR at Muridke police station alleging that her sister was abducted by Sufiyan.

KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court ordered issuance of notices on Friday to SHOs of Tipu Sultan police station in Karachi and Mureedkay police station in Punjab, as well as the brother of a lady petitioner who sought court’s protection against police harassment.

Saadia, resident of Muridke (Punjab) and Sufiyan of Karachi who married in Karachi on April 19 this year filed a petition alleging harassment by the police. They maintained that Saadia came to Karachi and married in court after completing all formalities. However, Shahid Mehmood, Sadia’s brother, lodged an FIR at Muridke police station alleging that her sister was abducted by Sufiyan.

The Punjab and Karachi police raided Sufiyan’s house and were harassing the petitioners, their counsel claimed and requested the court to provide them protection. After hearing the initial arguments, the bench ordered that notices be issued to SHOs and Shahid Mehmood for July 10.
