Railways’ Corruption: Physical remand extended

Accused of embezzling funds in the purchase of spares worth $15.6 million for 69 Chinese locomotives.

LAHORE: An accountability court on Friday granted 15-day physical remand of former Railways GM (maintenance and services) Naeem Malik and AGM (mechanical) Ahsan Mahmood. They are accused of embezzling funds in the purchase of spares worth $15.6 million for 69 Chinese locomotives. The court also sent General Manager Railways Saeed Akhtar on 15-day judicial remand for allegedly selling scrap cheap. On Friday, NAB Punjab produced the man before the court and sought their physical remand to carry out investigation. On NAB’s plea the court granted 15-day remand and directed NAB to produce them on July 7.
