LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday reserved its verdict on a petition challenging the Rescue 1122 decision to purchase 112 vehicles from a Chinese company.

A provincial law officer said the matter involved a controversy of fact that fell outside the writ jurisdiction of the LHC under Article 199 of the constitution. He asked the court to dismiss the petition.

Earlier, the LHC had restrained the Punjab government from releasing funds to purchase 112 vehicles from a Chinese company for the service. The petitioner, Muhammad Shahid, through his counsel submitted that a technical committee of the Punjab Rescue Service had put objections on the vehicles being purchased from a Chinese company.
