LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday restrained the city government from collecting a tax on swimming pools inside private homes and sought replies from the local government secretary and the district coordination officer. Justice Ijazul Ahsan issued the order on a petition by Mahmood Paracha, who argued that the Rs60,000 per annum tax on the construction of swimming pools inside houses was a violation of the Local Government Ordinance. He asked the court to set aside the tax. After hearing the preliminary arguments, the court issued a stay order and sought replies from the respondents.
