Robbery: Protest over police failure to respond

The robbers did not leave the house until an hour later but there was no sign of the police

FAISALABAD:

Dozens of people staged a demonstration to protest, what they called, a failure of Batala Colony police to take action following a robbery.

The protesters said the police were called with information about robbers’ presence at a house in Peoples Colony No2 on Wednesday night but they failed to respond. They said four men had broken into Muhammad Tariq’s house and robbed the family of its belongings. The robbers did not leave the house until an hour later but there was no sign of the police, they said. They accused the police of colluding with robbery gangs in the area and demanded that the senior officials take action in the matter.

SHO Rana Umer Daraz Khan rejected the allegation that police were colluding with criminals. He said they had raided the area as soon as the complaint was received but the robbers had fled by then. He said they had registered an FIR and started investigation.
