Strong grassroots: ‘Education dept is trying to improve’

Working hard to improve educational standards in the province, said Education Secretary Sindh.

KARACHI: Sindh Education Department and World Banks’ Global Partnership for Education (GPE) are working hard to improve educational standards in the province, said Education Secretary Muhammad Siddique Memon on Thursday. Her said that the GPE has allocated over $100 million to boost education in Pakistan and Sindh will receive $66 million. By providing free and compulsory education, along with free textbooks up to class nine, the education department has developed a sound education plan on the directives of Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq. Stipends are also being given to girl students up to class nine.
