Twitter alert: ‘Raja Rental’ for prime minister?

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf was nominated as a covering candidate for Makhdoom Shahabuddin on Wednesday by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). As fate would have it, by Thursday evening, and one arrest warrant later, he has now emerged as a forerunner to become the next prime minister of Pakistan. But his involvement in the infamous Rental Power Plants (RPP) case, christened him as  'Raja Rental' among the masses.

As soon as he submitted his nomination papers, the trend “Raja Rental” emerged on Twitter. While some tweets were of a serious nature regarding the scam he was convicted for, others took up a lighter tone to criticise his nomination.
