Benazir Bhutto’s 59th birth anniversary today

To mark the occasion, blood donation camps have been arranged all over Pakistan.

The 59th anniversary of former premier and the late Pakistan Peoples Party chairperson, Benazir Bhutto, will be observed today.

To mark the occasion, blood donation camps have been arranged all over Pakistan; both by PPP chapters in various cities and other organisations as well. In Karachi, various camps have been set up by the party’s local chapter in addition to one set up by the National Bank of Pakistan at its head office in collaboration with the Peoples Doctors’ Forum. The Fatimid Foundation has set up various camps all across Sindh as well.

Sindh Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Khan Durrani, meanwhile, is overlooking arrangements for the anniversary at Garhi Khuda Bux. He informed that in addition to collection of blood donations, free food will be distributed among the residents of Garhi Khuda Bux. The commemoration itself will consist of laying of wreaths at the graves of the Bhutto family.

In his message on the eve of the anniversary, President Asif Ali Zardari while reiterating the party’s commitment to the Parliament and Constitution, said the PPP had survived the “judicial murder of its founder ZA Bhutto and judicial abuse aimed at Benazir Bhutto, which culminated in her exile”.
