Chinese investors: AJK premier vows to create conducive environment
Guarantees all issues related to Neelum Jehlum Power Project will be resolved.

The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Wednesday called on all Chinese builders to invest in the state and assured that they will be facilitated in every way possible.
AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed stated this during a meeting with a Chinese delegation he had called on at the Kashmir House. The delegation included a renowned Chinese company’s vice president, Gond Yan Ki, and chief representative Wang Hong.
“We want to make the state self-dependant and also be in a position to contribute in the development and progress of Pakistan,” said Majeed. He said that AJK offers vast opportunities for investors, especially in hydro-power and tourism sectors. He invited Chinese firms to harness the 300 megawatts of electricity generation potential in Mirpur division alone.
The premier guaranteed that all the issues regarding Neelum Jehlum Power Project will be resolved within a week’s time, and added that “no hindrance will be tolerated”. He said that the district administration has been briefed on the matter, adding that all affected people will be compensated and their issues will be settled.
Majeed said that as a majority of power projects are in Neelum district, funds have been apportioned in the upcoming budget for the construction of a highway from Athmaqam to Tao Butt to facilitate development work as well as tourism.
The prime minister said that on the ruins of an ancient university found in Sharda, the government intends to establish a university of international standing, and appealed to all Chinese investors to form proposals for the project.
Officials representing various leading Chinese construction companies said that the state is blessed with natural resources and that they are keen on investing in it, especially in its hydro-power sector.
