Cricket: Amla’s knock too much for Bangladesh
South Africa win in Triangular Series Twenty20 match.
Hashim Amla struck an unbeaten 88 as South Africa registered a 39-run win over Bangladesh in their Triangular Series Twenty20 match at the Harare Sports Club.
Amla’s innings and quickfire knocks from Richard Levi (37) and JP Duminy (23*) helped South Africa post a huge 209 for three before a spirited Bangladesh reply saw them finish at 170 for eight. Amla, named man of the match, hit nine fours and three sixes in his 53-ball knock with only Mashrafe Mortaza and Ziaur Rahman among the wickets for Bangladesh who lost their second successive game in the tournament.
In reply, Marchant de Lange struck early, reducing Bangladesh to 19 for one before Robin Peterson and Lonwabo Tsotsobe took a wicket apiece to further dent the opposition’s run-chase. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah tried hard but to no avail.
