Siddiqui takes charge of OGDC
Vows to enhance company’s oil and gas production.
ISLAMABAD:
Masood Siddiqui assumed charge of the Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) on Monday, replacing Basharat A Mirza.
Siddiqui, who was appointed OGDC managing director and chief executive officer by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani a few days ago, brings with him a vast experience of more than 25 years in exploration and production of hydrocarbon resources in Pakistan.
According to a statement issued here, just after taking charge, Siddiqui called an introductory meeting of all heads of departments for a briefing.
Talking to the officers, he said he had accepted this high-profile job in the larger interest of the company and exploration and production sector of Pakistan.
He said OGDC would uphold high standards of professionalism based on merit and integrity, adding the company would make strenuous efforts to achieve the goals of hydrocarbon exploration and production to meet energy needs of the country.
At the same time, the company employees were asked to concentrate on their duties more consciously and carefully.
Pointing to OGDC being the largest exploration and production company of the country, Siddiqui said the company had a responsibility to enhance oil and gas production to minimise energy shortages.
He asked professionals of the company to perform their duties with hard work and dedication and gave assurance that upright and fair employees would be acknowledged for their achievements and services.
