Cruise in Top Gun 2?
Tom Cruise is anxious to fly the jets in Top Gun 2.
Actor Tom Cruise had been expressing his desire to work with Top Gun’s production team again and if rumours are to be believed, he has finally bagged a role in the sequel.
“I said to Tony I want to make another movie with him,” says Cruise. The actor has confirmed that director Tony Scott and Jerry Bruckheimer’s are on board and have agreed to film the second part of Top Gun nearly three decades later, reports nowpublic.com.
“He and I haven’t made a film since Days of Thunder,” says Cruise. “Tony, Jerry and I never thought that we would do it again. Then they started to come to us with these ideas and I thought, ‘Wow! That would be what we could do now’,” mtv.com quoted the actor as saying. Cruise’s co-stars are also eager to set the sequel in motion. Val Kilmer said that he is ready to play Tom “Iceman” Kazanski again.
Cruise added that the team is still working on the script for Top Gun 2 and hasn’t finalised the cast of the sequel as yet, reports Access Hollywood. “We’re working on it. We’ll see what happens, if I can figure out the script and we get it. It would be fun getting into those jets. I want to get in those jets,” he added. Cruise wants to film before starting the shooting of Mission Impossible 5.
Even though the 49-year-old star has 40 films on the roll, he couldn’t pick a film that best represented “the real Tom”. “That is too difficult. That’s like asking which one is your favourite child. Each one of them is equally important to me because I put so much into them,” he said.
Top Gun 2 is scheduled to hit theatres in 2013.
