Free to go: Compromise reached in court case

Judge, Munawar Sultana, granted bail to the teenage girl, her two brothers and the father.

KARACHI: The second Additional District and Sessions Court Malir granted bail on Thursday to a family charged with slicing off a man’s private parts.

According to the victim’s counsel, Riaz Ahmed Bhatti, the judge, Munawar Sultana, granted the bail to the teenage girl, her two brothers and the father, after they reached a settlement with his client. The girl had claimed that Riaz was trying to rape her on the other hand the complainant maintained that he was romantically involved with the girl and she had invited him over to her house.

The complainant said that the elders of the families had intervened and the girl’s family had sought his pardon. He said that he had forgiven them and the dispute had been resolved outside the courtroom. While talking to The Express Tribune, the complainant’s brother, Gul Faraz, said that a jirga was held a few days back and asked them to forgive the family. The matter will be finalised in next hearing on June 23.
