HYDERABAD:

A day after a highway accident between a truck and a passenger bus claimed 11 lives in Khairpur district, six more men were killed on the same highway in another accident occurring in neighbouring Noushehro Feroze district.

Five labourers belonging to a family and a car driver were killed as their car rammed against a truck on the National Highway on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Ghulam Muhammad Solangi, Suhrab Solangi, Abdul Hakeem Solangi, Nadeem Ali Solangi, Raheem Solangi and Manzoor Brohi, car driver. The truck's driver, Asad Ali Sabzdoi, also sustained injuries. The bodies and the injured were shifted to taluka hospital.

According to the police, the deceased were residents of Lalu Raink area of Larkana district. They all were going to Karachi to find work. It was not clear who was responsible for the accident. No police case was filed by the evening.

Meanwhile, three workers of a Pizza shop died after being hit by a speeding double cabin pickup at around 3am on Sunday in Hyderabad.

According to the Cant police, 70 years old Aleem Samejo died on the spot while 30 years old Nazeer Mangrio and 25 years old Akhtar Syed breathed their last one after the other during their life saving treatment at Liaquat University Hospital.

They were returning to their accommodation after closing their pizza shop when an unidentified double cab fatally hit their motorbike on Wadhu Wah road near the entrance of Defence phase II. Samejo belonged to Tharparkar district and Mangrio to Sanghar while Syed lived in Latifabad. The police said they are trying to locate the white coloured double cab, which was moving without a registration number plate, with the help of the CCTV cameras.

The Cant police on Monday registered an FIR of the incident on the complaint of Akbar Syed, brother of Akhtar. However, the police have still failed to trace the vehicle although it had passed through the main roads like Thandi Sarak and Wadhu Wah.
