KARACHI:

The city administration has fixed prices of essential food items for the holy month of Ramazan and issued separate official rate lists to ensure availability of goods at controlled prices.

The rates were finalised after consultations with the Karachi Wholesale Grocers Association Chairman Rauf Ibrahim, representatives of fruit and vegetable traders, Consumer Rights Protection Council Chairman Shakeel Beg, deputy commissioners, and officials of the Bureau of Supply and the Food Department. The pricing process considered prevailing market rates across the city. Separate lists have been issued for groceries, nimko, bakery items, naan and chapati, as well as beef and mutton.

Commissioner Hassan Naqvi has directed all deputy and assistant commissioners to strictly enforce the notified rates.
