KARACHI: The Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has inducted Multan’s Maria Muratib in its training camp for the London Olympics underway in Islamabad ‘to give her valuable experience’. The camp has been set up for the 100m sprinter Liaqat Ali and 800m runner Rabia Ashiq — both have received wild-card entries for the London event. But the AFP President Akram Sahi said that Muratib was included with a view of giving her much-needed exposure. “We’ve included her because she showed great promise during the 44th National Championships,” Sahi told The Express Tribune. “She has the potential to excel on the bigger stage. The move has been made to make her realise that she is part of our plans and that incentive will definitely motivate her.”
