Summer holidays in Sindh’s schools
Authorities are requested to close down schools from June as having school in such extreme weather is waste of time.
KARACHI:
Schools in most parts of Pakistan closed down for the summer holidays with effect from June 1 this year, including selected private schools in Sindh. However, students studying under the matriculate system are still being forced to go to school as per the decision of the Sindh education department.
Given the extremely hot weather that the province is currently experiencing and the state of loadshedding, one can only imagine the toll on the health of children who have to go to school in these conditions and deal with 42-plus centigrade temperatures, along with 30 to 40 students packed in one small classroom. The authorities concerned are requested to close down schools in the province from June as having school in such extreme weather is simply a waste of time, with neither the teachers nor the students being able to concentrate on their assignments.
